What makes a live performance linger in your memory long after the curtain falls?
It’s not just the dazzling costumes or the clever punchlines—it’s the sense of connection, the shared humanity, and the spark of joy that leaves an imprint.
I believe that music, theatre, and comedy do more than entertain. They bring people together, transcending barriers and creating spaces where diverse audiences can connect, laugh, and celebrate joy—no matter their background.
Blending Vintage Charm with Modern Flair
Inspired by theatrical styles of the past, the work I create often blends vintage performance elements with the bold energy of contemporary drag. This fusion bridges generational divides—stirring nostalgia for seasoned audiences while introducing younger viewers to the sights and sounds of the Taylor Swifts and Chappell Roans of yesterday. It’s a celebration of history and creativity—bringing musical theatre, comedy, and drag together to form an experience that transcends both artistic and social boundaries.
Holiday performances hold unique magic potential: they can ignite a child’s first love for the stage, rekindle treasured memories for seniors, and offer a rare chance for audiences of all varieties—drag fans, theatre nerds, and first-timers alike—to share common ground.
That’s one of the goals of my holiday show, Jingle Bell of the Ball: to break down barriers and create a shared space of laughter, connection, and seasonal cheer.
A quick anecdote:
Last year when I debuted this production, one of my elementary-aged theatre students was in the audience, and even brought me flowers. Having the opportunity to show her different sides of the performing arts while painting queer art in a positive light—priceless and extremely rewarding.
The Power of Inclusivity
At its core, my show 'Jingle Bell' embodies my mission as an artist: to create experiences that uplift, inspire, and connect. By weaving joy with subtle, meaningful messages, this show balances tradition and innovation to demonstrate that entertainment can be both deeply impactful and widely accessible.
LGBTQ representation and visibility are also central to this mission.
By intertwining familiar reference points from mainstream culture with the distinct flair of queer artistry, the show creates a space where diverse audiences can intermingle. It’s entertainment that is inclusive, vibrant, and unapologetically full of heart.
This approach to art is why I’m proud to be part of Connector Program. I aim to use my position as a leader in the performing arts community to help bring newcomers into the fold. Whether it’s someone new to the area or new to the performing arts, what makes their experience memorable is a welcoming hand reaching out. Inclusivity has no downside.
My hope is that productions like 'Jingle Bell' continue to break barriers, inspire understanding, and make the arts a welcoming space for everyone. And who knows? Maybe I’ll spot you in the audience, sharing in the magic! 🌟
